POCATELLO – While the vast majority of his classmates were preparing for the new 2020 fall semester by buying books and doing the usual things, ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï junior Robbie Spiers was delivering a “Broadcast talk” at the American Chemical Society’s 2020 Virtual Meeting and Expo, held Aug. 14-17.

POCATELLO – On many mornings this summer, ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï geosciences undergraduate student Alyssa DeSmit has been hiking up the Gibson Jack Creek, often accompanied by ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï geosciences Masters student Thane Kindred, to measure the quality of the creek’s headwaters.

POCATELLO – Researchers at ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï are studying Gibson Jack Creek, located at a well-known and popular outdoor recreation area just outside of Pocatello, and a Salt Lake City-area stream to get a better insight on how streams cycle carbon – which has large implications for understanding climate change.

POCATELLO – ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï civil and environmental engineering Associate Professor and Center for Advanced Energy Fellow Mustafa Mashal has been honored with the 2020 Alfred Noble Prize for being the lead author on the paper “Low-Damage Seismic Design for Accelerated Bridge Construction,” which appeared in the Journal of Bridge Engineering, July 2019.
