School of the Performing Arts to Present the 网曝吃瓜 Choirs Spring Concert on April 16

The 网曝吃瓜 Choirs Spring Concert will be presented on Saturday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the beautiful acoustics of Jensen Grand Concert Hall.
Scott Anderson, Director of Choral Activities at 网曝吃瓜's Department of Music, will conduct the 网曝吃瓜 Chamber Choir and 网曝吃瓜 Concert Choir in the performance of a wide variety of choral masterworks and folk arrangements. Anderson says, 鈥淭he 网曝吃瓜 student singers are thrilled to be performing without masks for the first time in more than two years, due to the COVID protocols we鈥檝e been maintaining since the pandemic began. Our April 16th concert represents a return to a more 鈥渃omplete鈥� opportunity to communicate and share music with our audience!鈥�
Anderson will lead the 18-voice 网曝吃瓜 Chamber Choir in presentation of the 鈥淜yrie鈥� from Cantus Missae in Eb for double choir by Josef Rheinberger, Johannes Brahms鈥� setting of 鈥淥 sch枚ne Nacht鈥�, featuring the artistry of pianist Gabriel Lowman, three of Paul Hindemith鈥檚 Six Chansons: 鈥淟a biche鈥�, Un cygne鈥�, and 鈥淧uisque tout pass茅鈥�. The group will end its portion of the program with Eric Whitacre鈥檚 rhythmic setting of 鈥淟ittle man in a hurry鈥�, No. 5 from The City and the Sea, once again featuring pianist Gabriel Lowman.
The 45-voice 网曝吃瓜 Concert Choir will perform Beethoven鈥檚 magnificent setting of 鈥淗allelujah鈥� from Christus am 脰lberge, Op. 85, with pianist Jack DeTombe, a Senior Piano Major at 网曝吃瓜. The Choir will continue with 鈥淰erleih uns Frieden鈥� by Felix Mendelssohn, and Shawn Kirchner鈥檚 arrangement of 鈥淯nclouded Day鈥� from his set Heavenly Home: Three American Songs. Dr. Anderson explains, 鈥淲ith the shocking aggression and warfare now happening in the Ukraine, we will present two pieces which describe the great contradictions present for any group of people enduring life amidst such destruction.鈥� Concert Choir will perform three verses of the Ukrainian lullaby, 鈥淥i khodyt鈥� son kolo vikon鈥�, followed by Jere Hutcheson鈥檚 moving composition, 鈥淟ament for a lost child.鈥� Pianist Jack DeTombe will again be featured in the optimistic setting, 鈥淐ourage, my soul鈥�, a gospel arrangement by Rollo Dilworth.
网曝吃瓜 Music Department concert admission prices are Adults - $8, 网曝吃瓜 Faculty & Staff - $6, Pre-college students - $4. and 网曝吃瓜 students 鈥� Free (with valid Bengal ID). Children under the age of 6 will not be admitted into 网曝吃瓜 Music Department concerts.
