Timothy Mucklow to speak at 网曝吃瓜 Aug. 22

POCATELLO--Renowned military historian Dr. Timothy Mucklow, formerly with the National Security Agency, will offer a free lecture on cryptography Tuesday, Aug. 22, 6 p.m., in Room 104 of 网曝吃瓜’s College of Business Building.
Cryptography is a method of storing and transmitting data in a form so only those for whom it is intended can read and process it.
Mucklow will showcase a cryptographic device called a KL-7 on loan from the National Cryptologic Museum. The KL-7 gained fame in the Pueblo incident and the Walker spy ring/espionage issue. The KL-7 is still a classified item and only a few of them have survived. This machine is 鈥渟anitized鈥� for public viewing, according to Dr. James Frost, a research assistant professor in 网曝吃瓜鈥檚 Informatics Research Institute.
