The Idaho State Civic Symphony has announced its 2014-15 concert schedule and season tickets are still available at a discounted price until Sept. 26.

The season is titled 鈥淐hronicle: Magic, Myth, and Madness,鈥� and is under the direction of Grant Harville, ISCS artistic director and conductor and 网曝吃瓜 assistant professor of music.

鈥淒r. Harville has put together an outstanding season of five classical concerts and two special concert events with an eclectic group of guest artists like B茅la Fleck on the banjo and Patrick Sheridan on the tuba,鈥� said ISCS President Rayna Valentine. 鈥淵ou鈥檒l be enchanted by the magic they can bring to the stage with their instruments.鈥�

There will be a mix of Friday and Saturday concerts in the Classical Series, and the Christmas concert is a two-performance event on Friday and Saturday evenings. The special event concert is the Saturday matinee Halloween Family Concert, featuring Brenda Stanley narrating a script she wrote specifically for the concert. There will be pre-concert activities for children and everyone is encouraged to come in costume.

For this year鈥檚 annual Valentine鈥檚 Gala fundraiser, the orchestra will be joined on stage for the evening鈥檚 鈥淏allet at the Symphony鈥� by Sergiu Brindusa and Beth Moore and their ballet dancers.

Classical Series Dates:

鈥� Sept. 17 鈥� Patrick Sheridan on tuba, also featuring Beethoven鈥檚 鈥淓gmost Overture鈥� and Rimsky-Korsakov鈥檚 鈥淪cheherazade.鈥�
鈥� Nov. 14 鈥� Young Artists Competition winners Yonsoo Park and Adam Merrill. Also featuring Shostakovich鈥檚 鈥淪ymphony No. 5.鈥�
鈥� Dec. 13 -14- Annual Christmas concert featuring 网曝吃瓜 Choirs and Camerata Singers.
鈥� March 21 鈥� B茅la Fleck on banjo, also featuring Harville鈥檚 鈥淭he West Bench鈥� (world premiere) and Copland鈥檚 鈥淎ppalachian Spring.鈥�
鈥� April 24 鈥� Soprano Diana Livingston Friedley, also featuring Debussy鈥檚 鈥淧relude to Afternoon of a Faun鈥�, Canteloube鈥檚 鈥淪elections from Chants d鈥橝uvergne鈥� and Brahms鈥� 鈥淪ymphony No. 4.鈥�

Special Event Concert Dates:

鈥� Oct. 25 鈥� The Halloween Spooktacular family concert at 2 p.m. Pre-concert activities for children in the Rotunda will begin at 1 p.m.
鈥� Feb. 13 鈥� The Valentine鈥檚 Gala featuring guest artists Beth Moore and Sergiu Brindusa with the Brindua-Moore Ballet Academy Ensemble. The evening鈥檚 activities will include the third annual Symphony raffle and the pre-concert Valentine鈥檚 dinner. Seating for the Valentine鈥檚 dinner is limited.
All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. unless stated otherwise.

Patrons may choose between two season ticket packages:

Package A includes the five Classical Series concerts plus the Ballet at the Symphony Valentine鈥檚 Gala. Prices are: Adult 鈥� $165, 网曝吃瓜 faculty/staff 鈥� $150 and non-网曝吃瓜 student 鈥� $90.

Package B includes the five Classical Series concerts only. Prices are: Adult 鈥� $140, 网曝吃瓜 faculty/staff 鈥� $127 and non-网曝吃瓜 student 鈥� $75.

Other ticket prices:

鈥� 网曝吃瓜 students are admitted free of charge to all five Classical Series concerts with a valid student Bengal ID card.
鈥� Family Concert matinee: Single, $8; family of up to four people, $27.
鈥� Individual concert tickets: Adult, $34; 网曝吃瓜 faculty/staff, $31; non-网曝吃瓜 students, $18; and third-tier balcony seating, $12 (no age restrictions, limited seating).

Tickets are subject to a $4 Box Office handling fee (per order) and applicable credit card charges. Tickets are available for purchase at the Stephen鈥檚 Performing Arts Center Box Office, 282-3595.
