March through the Arch: the "New Student March through the Arch," a tradition for ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï freshman, will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, at Reed Gymnasium.

ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï President Arthur Vailas, other ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï officials, and the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Marching Band will be gathered to welcome new students a day before the fall semester begins on Aug. 26.

The ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Marching Band, Benny the Bengal, Cheerleaders and Bengal Dancers will lead a spirited processional from Reed Gym to Swanson Arch. A barbeque will follow on the Hutchinson Quadrangle.

The "March through the Arch" was started in 2000 to symbolize the beginning of new students' academic careers and as a tie to ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï students through the years who have walked through the doors of Swanson Hall, the first building on campus. ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï graduates march through the Arch prior to commencement to symbolize the start of their careers.

Members of the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Marching Band will lead participants in singing the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Fight Song.

ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Fight Song lyrics are: "Growl, Bengals, growl. Fight, Bengals, fight. Gnash your teeth and bare your claws and drive with all your might. Roar, Bengals, roar, you decide our fate! Bring the vict'ry home to us, you Bengals of Idaho State! ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Fight ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Fight ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Fight. Go! Go! Go Bengals, Go!"
