网曝吃瓜

The 网曝吃瓜 Cultural Affairs Counsel spring lecture will be given by Louis S. Warren on his book 鈥淏uffalo Bill鈥檚 America: The Wild West Show in the Gilded Age鈥� at 8 p.m. April 11 in the 网曝吃瓜 Fine Arts Building鈥檚 Goranson Hall.

Warren鈥檚 book details William Cody鈥檚 rise from buffalo hunter and cavalry scout to what was claimed to be the world鈥檚 most famous showman. Warren will answer what inspired the Nebraska native to create the Wild West show 鈥� a traveling community that consisted of hundreds of Indians, cowboys and vaqueros; and what accounted for the show鈥檚 success on either side of the Atlantic.

Warren uncovers insights not only into the intersection of western history and western myth, but into the making of modern America.

Warren is the W. Terrentine Jackson Professor of Western U.S. History at the University of California, Davis. 鈥淏uffalo Bill鈥檚 America鈥� has been awarded the Albert Beveridge Prize of American Historical Association, the Caughey Western History Association Prize, the Great Plains Distinguished Book Prize and a Western Writer鈥檚 Spur Award.     After the lecture, Warren will participate in a book signing.
