网曝吃瓜 President Arthur C. Vailas and AMI Semiconductor President and Chief Executive Officer Christine King renewed a memorandum of understanding between AMIS and 网曝吃瓜 to develop a closer working relationship through educational and workplace cooperation.

A signing ceremony was held in October that was attended by a variety of 网曝吃瓜 and AMIS officials. AMIS and 网曝吃瓜 are Bannock County鈥檚 largest private and public employers respectively. The understanding was first signed in 2002 by King and then-网曝吃瓜 President Richard Bowen, who both last renewed it in March 2004. AMIS also donated $10,000 to the 网曝吃瓜 College of Engineering Department during the ceremony.

Both King and Vailas agreed that 鈥渋ntellectual property鈥� is of supreme importance. At the signing ceremony Vailas said 网曝吃瓜 and AMIS hope to collaborate on research projects.

鈥淲e鈥檇 like to embark on some high-impact research with national and global implications, putting Pocatello on the map,鈥� Vailas said.

Under the terms of the memorandum, the two parties will:

鈥� Designate educational liaison officers to communicate educational, internship, research, and work needs effectively and efficiently.

鈥� AMIS will encourage its employees to pursue 网曝吃瓜 programs to meet their educational needs and AMIS will ask 网曝吃瓜 to respond to short- and long-term program requests. 网曝吃瓜 recognizes that the institution cannot fulfill all the needs of AMIS, but will facilitate the delivery of programming within the expertise of 网曝吃瓜.

鈥� Create internship, part-time employment and other cooperative programs.

鈥� Allow AMIS employees to teach in an adjunct capacity at 网曝吃瓜.

鈥� Allow 网曝吃瓜 faculty members short-term leaves or sabbaticals to AMIS.

鈥� AMIS will be represented on appropriate 网曝吃瓜 advisory boards.

鈥� When feasible, AMIS and 网曝吃瓜 will perform collaborative research.

鈥� AMIS may donate to 网曝吃瓜 used manufacturing equipment, when available.

鈥� AMIS employees may be guest lecturers at 网曝吃瓜 to provide students an opportunity to study real-world applications to their degrees.

Following the agreement鈥檚 signing, Jon Stoner, AMIS chief technology officer, presented Dr. Richard Jacobsen, 网曝吃瓜鈥檚 College of Engineering dean, with a $10,000 check for new work stations to be installed in the 网曝吃瓜 Electrical Engineering Department鈥檚 VLSI laboratory.

鈥淭heir donation is very helpful to our college and department, and allows us to upgrade the workstations we have, allowing us to have the same types of computers here at 网曝吃瓜 as they have at AMIS,鈥� said Dr. Lawrence Stout, 网曝吃瓜 associate professor of electrical engineering. 鈥淎MIS is also giving us technical assistance to help run the workstations. They have the expertise to help us, and that allows our students to do some things we couldn鈥檛 have afforded to do without the donation.鈥�
